Graham Stephen Potter is a 46-year-old former England player and football coach, he is the newly appointed head coach of the London-based club in England Chelsea.
During his playing career, he played as a defender for several premier League clubs which include Southampton, Stoke City, Wycombe City, Shrewsbury Town in a 13 years playing career that made 307 appearances before retired.
He started his coaching career with with Sweden-based club Ostersund FC in 2011 and spent so many years before being appointed by Swansea City in 2018. He moved to Briton and Hove Albion a year later and in September 2022, he became the head coach of Chelsea after the sacking of German manager, Thomas Tuchel.
Potter is recognized for his progressive and flexible formation. He described his team as tactically flexible and attacking possession based, his philosophy of coaching could be linked to that of Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, Roberto Mancini of Belgium National team and Raymond Verheijens who is the former coach of Wales National team.
Potter’s philosophy include but not limited to a back three formation which gives the wing-back opportunity to flourish in attack and defense, possession based style and counter pressing in which Chelsea players are familiar with under the reign of Thomas Tuchel.
He would have made his debut this weekend against Fulham but the suspension of all activities in Britain due to the death of Queen Elizabeth ll of England will give Potter more chance to experiment his team until Wednesday when he will be in the dugouts for his first outing as Chelsea coach against RB Salzburg in the Champions league.
