The Social Democratic Party, SDP, officially opened its national secretariat in Abuja on Thursday in advance of the general elections in 2023.
Eminent Nigerians attended the event, including Chief Olu Falae, a former national chairman of the party and secretary to the government of the federation, as well as Professor Tunde Adeniran, a former minister of education, the current national chairman Shehu Gabam, and the party’s presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo.
In a brief statement just before stopping the recording, Falae referred to the opposition as “opportunists attempting to steal power” and the SDP as the only political party in the country.
We need to manage our challenges, Falae said, urging party members to avoid dissension inside their ranks. The game of numbers in politics.
I attended a gathering dubbed the Alliance for Democracy or AD. There were several problems, and individuals went to court. This place won’t allow for such a thing. There are no conflicts or factions among us.
