The three-day teenagers leadership bootcamp facilitated by the lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South,. Egbedore, Ejigbo federal constituency, Rep Bamidele Salam has come to a reasonable close today.

The programme, which had 200 participants drawn from all four local government areas of the Constituency, was held at Camp Young in Ede between Friday and Sunday.

The participants, who are between the ages of 13 and 19 years, were trained on leadership, community participation and organising, sustainable development goals, networking, among other skills during the three-day bootcamp.

Speaking the at the closing ceremony on Sunday, Salam said he has put in place plans to ensure that participants put to use what they were taught and to ensure monitoring of their activities moving on.

Salam said, “moving on, we should expect that these young leaders having impacts in their various communities. We have also put in place mechanisms to monitor their activities and progress as they move on in life.”

Speaking further, the lawmaker, who is the Secretary of the Transition Committee set up by the Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, gave assurances that the incoming administration in Osun State has loads of similar and better empowerment for the young people.

“While I won’t want to give you expo, I’ll like like to tell you that the incoming administration of our Governor-elect has several empowerment programmes for the youth. His Excellency has approved quarterly empowerment programmes for young people, starting from January 2023.

“The Governor select is a youth-loving Governor and he displayed that when he visited the participants yesterday (Saturday). He interacted with them and showed how loving and caring he is. Osun youths will see a difference as things will be better for them when a PDP government is in power.” Salam said.

Some of the participants who spoke with InsightMedia expressed their appreciation for being part of the “loaded bootcamp”. They said the knowledge acquired will not only help in their academic sojourn but also help them contribute to community development.

As part of the closing programme, participants were given certificate of participation and a bursary to assist them. They were also given past question series while those who performed excellently well got special gifts as take-home.
