The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, has conferred an Award of Excellence on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Most Gender Friendly Governor.

This took place on Friday in Ilorin, the state capital, at the 2022 Annual Press Week/Dinner Award Night of the Council.

AbdulRazaq has taken unprecedented steps to include more women in the decision making process of the state by appointing 60 percent female cabinet members and 50 percent female permanent secretaries.

Many other key government positions are held by women, showing a clear gender inclusion that is unprecedented at the sub-national level in the country.

The Governor in his effort to entrench gender inclusion and balance in government also assented to an executive bill mandating at least 35 percent women representation in the state executive council and other classes of political appointments.

AbdulRazaq had received a similar award from the United Nations (HeForShe), acknowledging his gender friendly policies and stand.
