A 30-year-old woman, Khadija Ibrahim, and her two daughters have died in a fire incident at Tsangarwa village, in the Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

The spokesman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State, Adamu Shehu, in a statement, said the incident happened around 11 pm on Friday when fire razed a hut while the victims were asleep.

The statement read, “The fire engulfed a hut, where the 30-year-old Khadija Ibrahim was sleeping alongside her two daughters, four-year-old Aisha Ibrahim and two-year-old Rabi Ibrahim.”

He explained that both the mother and her two daughters were consumed by the inferno as none of the victims was rescued alive.

Shehu said the cause of the fire was unknown, but neighbours noted that it might not be unconnected with a charcoal fire meant to keep them warm.

According to the statement, the remains of the victims were conveyed to a nearby hospital, where medical doctors confirmed them dead.

They were said to have been buried according to Islamic rites.
