In a breaking news report, three people have been gunned down in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria. The incident occurred as political thugs disrupted the ongoing electoral process in polling units 026 and 004, Gboko South. The thugs were reported to have attempted to snatch ballot boxes and the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), but their attempts were unsuccessful.

An eye-witness, Moses Agure-Dam, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, stating that the thugs were shot dead by military officers who were present in the area. He added that one of the thugs had successfully snatched the BVAS, while others tried to steal ballot boxes.

Efforts by DAILY POST to reach the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, were unsuccessful as her phone number was unreachable.

The incident has sparked concern among residents of the area, who fear that the violence could escalate further. The disruption of elections by political thugs has been a recurring problem in Nigeria, with many cases of election violence and vote rigging reported in the past.

The Nigerian government and electoral commission have been urged to take measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, and to ensure that electoral processes are free and fair. The safety of voters and election officials should also be prioritized, to prevent further loss of life and property.

The situation is currently under investigation, and more details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
