Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has affirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the health of the State’s residents through continuous medical services.

During the launch of the 2nd Imole Medical Outreach at State Hospital Ilesha on Wednesday, Adeleke emphasized his administration understands the people’s needs. We previously conducted a similar outreach in February, benefiting over 22,000 Osun residents across Senatorial Districts, which underscores our concern for our citizens.”

“I’m delighted to officially kick off the 2nd Imole Medical Outreach, set to run until September this year. This initiative aims to address medical challenges by providing free healthcare services, performing surgical procedures, distributing medications, and offering eyeglasses,” Adeleke stated.

He reiterated that the Medical Outreach would remain a consistent feature of his administration and urged the Ministry of Health to devise a comprehensive strategy to enhance the effectiveness of the programme.

“This Medical Outreach will be a recurring element of our administration. I encourage the Health Commissioner and the Ministry to develop an all-encompassing plan that extends across all state healthcare facilities. Executing this directive will ensure the program’s sustainability,” he added.

“This Outreach is part of our efforts to ease the economic burden on Osun’s people, who require medical attention but lack the means to access it.”

He urged the Health Commissioner, special advisers, and management of State Health Institutions to incorporate private sector involvement, ensuring the program reaches all segments of society.

Furthermore, Adeleke praised the Imole Medical Outreach Committee-led by Prof. Babatunde Olaitan, for their dedication to making the program a success.

Earlier in his address, Chairman of the Imole Medical Outreach Committee, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s initiative and shared that over 2,000 individuals had registered for medical services since Monday.

“I’m grateful to Governor Ademola Adeleke for his concern for Osun’s people, bringing healthcare services to them,” Olaitan said.

“Over 22,000 individuals benefited from the first phase of the Outreach in February, and we’ve already seen 2,000 patients seeking treatment today.”

“Surgeries have been performed, medications dispensed, and medical issues like hypertension, diabetes, and cough have been addressed and continue to be treated. The Outreach will continue tomorrow in Ilesha before moving to Ila next week,” he concluded.

Insight Media’s correspondent reported that since the program began in the morning, there has been a significant turnout of people seeking treatment. Chairman of the Board of Management at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Barr. Niyi Owolade, confirmed that attendees are receiving care based on their medical needs.

Beneficiaries who spoke with the correspondent praised the Governor’s thoughtful actions and urged him to sustain the positive impact he has initiated in the state’s healthcare sector.

InsightMedia noted that in February 2023, the Governor initiated the first medical outreach across all Senatorial Districts in the state.
