A 400L student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, department of Animal Production and Health, Ridwan Alayande has emerged the President of Ilobu National Students Union, Ilobu in a keenly contested elections on Wednesday.

Popularly called Da Real, Alayande who polled 313 defeated his rival from the University of Ilorin, Opeyemi Odebunmi who had 214 in the rescheduled polls held at Oluwomi area of the ancient town.

Alayande is believed to have the required knowledge and experience to pilot the affairs of the union having served as the Welfare Director, Deputy Speaker and the Speaker in the past three years.

He will be sworn in as the 26th president of the union on in Thursday, January 3rd at the union secretariat in Ilobu.

He will be succeeding Teslim Salahudeen whose tenure was expected to lapse on January 2nd.

In the meantime, his opponent, Opeyemi Odebunmi has congratulated Alayande and wished him success in his administration.

The 300L mathematics student of UNILORIN also appreciated his supporters, electoral committee led by Mujeeb Jamiu and electorates and promised to remain in the service to humanity.

Other posts filled during the polls are the vice president by Sharot Sodeeq, General Secretary won by Akeem Sodiq of Federal College of Education Special, Oyo.

Miss Aisha Asafa of Federal Polytechnic, Ede defeated her rival to emerge the Social Directress, Azeez Hammed won the post of Welfare Director, Adewale Opapeju emerged the Sport Director.

Mustapha Habeeb won the contest for Treasurer while Muhammed Yusuf defeated other aspirant to clinched the post of Public Relations Officer.

The positions of Auditor, Assistant Public Relations Officer, Assistant General Secretary, Librarian and Financial Secretary were unopposed.
