The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu has ordered the retirement of seven Deputy Inspector of Police from the force, a police source has confirmed.
The seven affected senior officers have been left in uncertainty over their careers since Adamu succeeded Ibrahim Idris as the police boss.
The affected officers are Maigari Dikko, the DIG in charge of finance and administration and Habila Joshak, the DIG in charge of operations.
Others are DIGs Emmanuel Inyang, information and communications technology; Agboola Oshodi-Glover, logistics and supply; Mohammed Katsina, research and planning; Sani Mohammed, training and development; and Peace Ibekwe-Abdallah, federal criminal investigation and intelligence.
Adamu follows the tradition in the force where senior officers are retired when their junior is appointed as IG.
It will be recalled that in 2016 when Idris was appointed, about 20 AIGs and DIGs were forced to retire to allow him set up his management team.
