The Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle has written to the paramount ruler of Iwoland, Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, commending the monarch for his hospitality and warm reception during a 3-day working visit to Nigeria last month.
Meghan and her husband, Harry, while in Nigeria met with some royal fathers.
In the letter, Meghan acknowledged the Yoruba name, ‘Adetokunbo’, given to her by the monarch during their sojourn in Nigeria.
While both Harry and Meghan were in Nigeria, Oluwo was invited as the only Yoruba monarch to give them a royal reception at Delborough Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos, where he decorated Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle with Yoruba traditional attire, thereafter christened the Duchess of Sussex with a Yoruba name, Adetokunbo.
“Our visit to Nigeria was important for many reasons, but not least because it gave us an opportunity to explore and understand my heritage, which extends to our children. We look forward to coming back home one day soon.”
