The ruling houses has rejected the appointment of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin because he is not a member of any Ruling houses in Ekosin.

According to the members of the ruling houses in a statement, no privilege should be accorded to him in any form until the determination of a case at the Court.

The ruling house expressed dissatisfaction about the “reckless abuse of office and power and the sheer disobedience to the rule of law perpetrated by some political officers in the administration of the Governor of Osun State Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke over the filling of vacant stool of Akosin of Ekosin.”

According Prince Kayode Asa, who spoke on behalf of the Nyanbilolu Ruling House, the appointment of Olagunju is in violation of trust and confidence in public office holders, stating that they were told that the case in court will be allowed to run through before a monarch is announced.

The statement further reads, “Let us recall that the stool of Akosin of Ekosin became vacant in 2022 following the death of Oba Samson Babatunde Onaolapo and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs wrote the Odo-Otin local government to commence a process of filling the vacant stool in line with the 1956 registered chieftaincy declaration of our community.

“The Ekosin Ruling Houses and the community as a whole are in shock as the political officers under the guise of Osun State Government are forcing an impostor as their traditional ruler and claiming it as “staff of office”.

“We also have not seen a report of any State Executive Council Meeting where the ratification of Kazali Olagunju as Akosin of Ekosin was made as we’re aware that none of such was held last week. We only started seeing the picture of the presentation on Wednesday the 12th of June, 2024.

“What came as a bigger shock to us was Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dosu Babatunde, Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Chieftaincy matters, Adam Akindele, Chairman of Odo-Otin local government, Adewale Adeyinka and other members in position of trust and integrity, we believed them but however on Monday this week, we were in court for the continuation of hearing and it embarrassing that some of the above-mentioned people are not what we think they are as they have gone ahead to present a staff of office to an impostor on 11th June 2024 in the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affair at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osogbo”.

“It is highly embarrassing that some of the above-mentioned people are not what we think they are as they have gone ahead to present a staff of office to an impostor on 11th June 2024 in the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affair at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Osogbo.

InsightMedia recalls that the Chairman of Odo-Otin local government, Adewale Adeyinka on Thursday, June 6, 2024 told citizens of Ekosin who were at the council that “no process of selecting a new Akosin has been activated”.

Adeyinka said the process will be activated after the conclusion of the Court case.

Stating their demands, Asa called  withdrawal of staff of instrument of office given Kazali Olagunju as Akosin and his appointment should be withdrawn immediately. While imploring the State government to respect and wait for the judgment of the Court.

He said the process should start a fresh to select from the Nyanbilolu Ruling House.

Speaking on the matter, Yemi Abiona, Counsel to the monarch said Olagunju was selected by his ruling house and his name was sent to the kingmakers.

He, however, did not mention the not the ruling house as he said the Nyanbilolu was the one that approached the court on the matter.

“Oba Olagunju was selected by his Ruling House and his name was sent to kingmakers alongside others. He was elected by the kingmakers.

“When this new administration came on board, the committee set up to investigate chieftaincy issues cleared Oba Olagunju. The first suit that was instituted by Yanbinlolu came after selection process had been completed and the governor, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and the Attorney General were not joined in the matter.”
