Nigeria international Femi Azeez has described his move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion as a “dream come true” after completing his transfer from Championship club Millwall.
The 25-year-old winger has signed a four-year contract with Brighton following an outstanding 2025/26 campaign that earned him a move to England’s top flight.
For Azeez, the transfer represents the fulfilment of a childhood ambition after years of working his way through the lower levels of English football.
“It’s every young boy’s dream, isn’t it? Something I’ve been dreaming of for my whole life, and to be given this opportunity is like a dream come true really,” Azeez said in an interview with Brighton.
The Nigerian winger promised to make the most of the opportunity, saying he was determined to work hard and establish himself at the Amex Stadium.
“I’m going to take this opportunity. I’m going to work hard. I want to be successful here, so I’m over the moon,” he added.
Azeez revealed that Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler also played an important role in his decision to join the club, particularly after explaining the club’s plans and vision for him.
The winger said Brighton’s reputation for developing players, coupled with the club’s ambition and culture, convinced him that it was the right environment for the next stage of his career.
His arrival comes after a breakthrough campaign at Millwall, where he scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 35 Championship appearances, helping the club reach the playoffs.
His performances earned him recognition in both the PFA Championship Team of the Year and the EFL Championship Team of the Season.
Azeez joined Millwall from Reading in 2024 and made 77 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing 13 assists before securing his Premier League opportunity.
The transfer is reportedly worth an initial £12.5 million, with performance-related add-ons capable of taking the overall package beyond £15 million.
The move is also another significant milestone in Azeez’s international career. He made his senior Nigeria debut earlier in 2026 and marked the occasion with an impressive brace against Zimbabwe.
Having climbed his way through the lower divisions of English football, Azeez now has the chance to prove himself on the biggest domestic stage in England.
