A Non-Governmental Organisation, the Emi-Kola Afolabi Foundation has given out 15 scholarships awards to students of tertiary institutions and secondary schools, who are from low income earning background.

The scholarship presentation was held at Foundation premises on Friday in Osogbo, Osun State capital.

The beneficiaries include 5 physically challenged students and two others while 8 current beneficiaries of the scheme had their scholarships renewed.

Speaking with the newsmen, the co-founder of the foundation, Pa James Afolabi gave a breakdown of the beneficiaries, insisting that the programme is to ensure access to quality education.

“We have 15 beneficiaries in total this year, 5 physically challenged students from tertiary institutions and secondary school, we renewed 8 others, who are beneficiaries from previous year and 2 others.

Mrs Lucy Afolabi, co-founder of the foundation, advised well to do individuals, stakeholders, political office holders to be deliberate in their giving back to the society.

“I advise other well meaning individuals, stakeholders, NGOs to also give back to the society, they should extend hand of help to the less privileged, persons with disabilities, so every child can acquire good education.”

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries , a 300 level student of English department of Obafemi Awolowo University, Agaba Moses, expressed gratitude to their benefactors, while urging the remaining beneficiaries to be serious about their studies.

The Emi-Kola Afolabi Foundation has been awarding scholarships since 2017, in a way to support the less privileged and to ensure every child enjoys the good benefit of education.

The foundation works on providing solutions to a range of challenges facing the students, widows and the persons with disabilities.
