The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) strongly condemns the unwarranted brutality, assault, and illegal detention of its personnel by officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

On October 22, 2024, police officers, without identification, attempted to arrest a suspect at Elizabeth Estate in Osogbo. Our personnel, following protocol, requested identification, which they failed to provide.

The situation escalated on October 23, 2024, when approximately 20 police officers assaulted one of our personnel, inflicting severe bodily harm. The officer was brutalized, disarmed, handcuffed, and illegally detained.

The statement reads “Despite efforts by of the Commandant, Dr. Michael Adaralewa, to resolve the issue amicably, police refused to release our personnel. Their claims of deflated vehicle tires were inconsistent and unsubstantiated.
