A Non Governmental Organization, Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiatives (DROMI), has distributed palliative items as part of its Welfare Programme to residents of Port-Harcourt in Rivers state to cushion the effect of hardship currently being faced by Nigerians.
At the Food Palliative Drive, which took place at Market Road, Runuodani Playground, Elelenwo, Rivers state, beneficiaries, mostly aged women, were highly elated with the kind gesture from the NGO.
Speaking during the programme, the initiator of the Non-governmental organisation, Dr. Rhoda Makinde, noted that the aims and objectives of the foundation is to make life better for the aged, widows and less privileged in the society without political or religion colouration.
Dr. Makinde, who is the wife of the Lawmaker representing Ondo East/Ondo West Federal Constituency, Hon. Abiola Makinde, urged Nigerians to be more patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Represented by Mrs Blessing, who is the Rivers state coordinator of DROMI, Dr. Makinde stressed that the only way to help the present leadership in the country is to be praying for them and supporting them, not cursing or grumbling.
She however appealed to well meaning Nigerians not to leave the care of the people to government alone, rather, join hands in making life comfortable for all and sundry.
One of the beneficiaries of bags of rice and groundnut oil distributed by DROMI, Mrs. Nwachukwu Alice, praised the organisation for the initiative, stating that it came at a time her family needed it most.
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Agnes Okoro, appreciated Dr. Makinde for giving back to the society at this critical period and for reaching out to less privileges far from her husband’s constituency.
