Stakeholders under the aegis of Osun Civil Society Coalition have concluded plans to hold a dialogue session to commemorate first anniversary of #EndSARS protests.

The event will be held on Wednesday, October 20th at Aurora Event Center in Osogbo, the state capital.

According to the Chairman of Organizing Committee, Comrade Ayodeji Ologun, the event will bring stakeholders in security, policy making, government and human rights together to discuss the losses and gains of the nationwide protest held last year.

The roundtable discussion according to Ologun will also review the performance of security agents and chart new way forward for the betterment of Nigerian youths.

“For many days, Nigerian youths in every State of the Federation stood at the barricades, insisting on the implementation of the rights to a dignifying life void of Police stereotypes, unlawful arrests, extra judicial killings and other forms of oppression.

One year after, it is time to review the gains and the losses of the struggle. It is time to debate the issues that arose from the struggle, the regrets that we have as a country and the lessons we must take from them.

“Youths, Security Operatives and representatives of Government will be gathered to constructively debate and forge ahead in unity. The programme will be immediately followed by a peaceful candlelight procession, in honour of every person who lost their lives during the EndSARS struggle.”

Expected at the event are the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode; Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Mr Ismail Omipidan; Popular Rights Activist, Waheed Saka; Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, Wasiu Ajadosu; The Director of the Department of State Security, Osun State Command. While Dr Omotosho Oluyemi of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, will give keynote address.

The event will be streamed live on Facebook via Insight Multi-Links Media and other pages.
