A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo state capital was in disarray on Friday, October 4 as the Judge ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to produce the 106 boxes, containing the N900 million allegedly stolen by two bank workers.

The New Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that the EFCC charged Bolade Ajuwan and Samuel Ogbiede alongside six officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria for breaching of etiquette by stealing mutilated currency in exchange for new ones.

The other bank workers were accused of being accomplices to the crime and also helping themselves to a sizeable chunk of the money.

The accused all pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.

Justice P.I. Ajoku of the Federal High Court, gave the order after an EFCC witness, Saliu Kadir, testified alongside two CBN officials; Kolawole Babalola and Muniru Olaniran.

According to the EFCC, each of the 106 boxes was meant to contain N10 million of N1000 denomination. The Judge discovered that the EFCC officials have tempered with the boxes, which was discovered to be containing interleaves and lower denominations such as N100, N50, N20, and even ordinary papers instead.

The Federal High Judge has adjourned the case until December 2 and 3, 2019 for the continuation of trial.
