As palpable tensions continues to rent the atmosphere over activities of illegal in Osun East, most especially, in Ife East and Central local government of OsunState, residents Obaluru, Oke Ogbo on Wednesday woke up to another attack on them by illegal miners in the area.

Obaluru, a community in Ife East Local Government, was attacked overnight by armed men who are suspected to be illegal miners.

According to a resident who spoke with us, this is the seventh time that they area would suffer such attack between July 2023 and now.

The latest attack on Tuesday started around 10pm when armed hoodlums stormed the area and started shooting sporadically into the air.

They also set some residence ablaze as people of the area fled for their lives.

It took the intervention of the men of the Nigerian Army to quench the attacks.

Counting the loses, a resident of the area told our Correspondent in Osogbo that “the attack has left many homeless, adding that livelihoods have been affected as many businesses have been lost”.
