Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has issued a stern warning to billionaire Elon Musk, urging him to refrain from interfering in European politics.
In an interview with Norwegian public radio NRK on Monday, Støre expressed concern over Musk’s recent comments on the internal affairs of European nations.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Musk’s significant influence on social media and substantial economic resources make his involvement in European politics particularly worrisome.
“This is not how democracies and allies should interact,” Støre added when asked whether Musk might interfere in Norway’s legislative election scheduled for September.
“If we were to see this happen in Norway, I hope and believe that the entire Norwegian political landscape would condemn and distance itself from such actions,” said the Labour Prime Minister, who is currently struggling in opinion polls.
Musk has increasingly supported far-right and anti-immigration parties across Europe while criticising leaders such as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
