Globacom, the technology leader, has reaffirmed its dedication to providing top-tier telecommunications infrastructure while ensuring that customers continue to benefit from competitive voice and data rates, despite the recent nationwide tariff hike.
In a statement released to the media on Sunday, the company shared details of its ongoing efforts to improve customer experience through a nationwide network upgrade project.
“To maintain high service standards, Glo is accelerating its network enhancement efforts across the country,” the company said.
The current phase of this upgrade, which began last year, includes the expansion of new network sites and improvements to existing ones.
“This extensive upgrade encompasses the full range of telecom infrastructure, from the core network to the access network, transmission, IP network, fiber, metro access, and backbone systems. We are also expanding passive equipment like power and environmental systems,” the statement outlined.
To reduce network congestion and improve connectivity, Globacom has successfully deployed hundreds of new sites in key locations, including Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja.
“This upgrade is designed to increase network capacity, provide more resources for customers, and enhance their overall experience,” the company noted.
Globacom has also integrated hundreds of LTE 2600 sites in important markets such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Kwara, as well as at various tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra.
“This strategic rollout guarantees high-speed data in critical areas while alleviating network congestion,” the company stressed.
In line with the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy’s broadband penetration initiative, Globacom has expanded its data network capacity, completing enhancements across 1,700 sites in states including Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau.
“This project is focused on improving data throughput, ensuring customers enjoy smooth browsing and calling experiences,” the statement further explained.
The telecom company also emphasized its efforts to install hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations nationwide to address increasing demand for coverage and capacity.
“These new base stations will enhance service quality, coverage, and overall network performance across Nigeria,” the company added.
Additionally, Globacom revealed it has upgraded the Glo1 submarine cable to maximize capacity and support the ongoing technical advancements.
“This upgrade ensures optimal performance, supporting our infrastructure expansion and ensuring superior browsing and calling experiences for Glo customers,” the company said.
Finally, to boost network reliability, Globacom has undertaken a significant power and fiber infrastructure upgrade.
“We are installing thousands of new generators and replacing outdated fiber routes across thousands of kilometers. This strategic initiative aims to provide network redundancy, enhancing service availability and guaranteeing seamless customer experiences,” the company concluded.
