
Hon. Abiola Waheed Ibrahim Inaolaji, representing Irewole/Isokan State Constituency in the Osun 8th House of Assembly, urged residents to remain calm and peaceful amidst the ongoing local government crisis in Osun State.
According to the statement signed by the representative on Tuesday night, the lawmaker condoled with family of victims of the crisis in his Constituency and the State at large.
“Fellow residents of Irewole/Isokan state constituency, it is undoubtedly certain that Osun is renowned for her peaceful nature and as such, we must all remain resolute and ensure that the peaceful atmosphere is maintained”.
He also condemned the recent violence in Ikire, Apomu, and Ikoyi communities, stating, “Let me reiterate that no judgment duly authorises the forceful invasion of the Local Government areas. This was a coordinated attack which eventually led to loss of lives and properties.”
Hon. Inaolaji emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values and respecting the rule of law.
“Democracy is a system for the people to decide who they want elected. It should be a process of integrity and due process. It warrants no bloodshed or violence.”
Hon. Inaolaji called on his constituents to prioritize peace and unity, stating, “We are first brothers and sisters before political affiliations.
“We should look beyond this present moment to draw more positive and profound view where we all can meet, thrive and live together productively and harmoniously.”
He commended the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his commitment to maintaining peace and order during this challenging period.
Hon. Inaolaji also called on security agencies to intervene, saying,”I call on the Inspector General of Police, the Commissioner of Police (Osun command), DSS, Nigerian Civil Defence Corps and other security agencies to help restore peace, stability and normalcy to our communities.”
The House og Assembly member urged everyone to shun violence and embrace peace and unity, while expressing condolences to the families of those affected.
