Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, following her assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

In an official letter of expulsion dated February 13, 2025, and signed by Acting Registrar Mr. Victor I. Modebelu, the university explained that the decision was based on a recommendation from the Student Disciplinary Committee.

The committee found that Precious’ actions grossly violated the university’s disciplinary regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).

The incident, which attracted widespread attention after a video surfaced online, involved Precious attacking Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer in the department.

The confrontation reportedly occurred after the student’s TikTok video was interrupted on campus, leading to public outrage and calls for severe disciplinary measures.

The expulsion takes immediate effect, with the university instructing Precious to leave the premises and return any university property in her possession.

The university’s decisive action reflects its commitment to upholding discipline on campus. The expulsion letter stated, “The Ag. Vice-Chancellor has received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee regarding your assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies, which was deemed gross misconduct and a violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, specifically Regulation 4 (SDR).”

As a result, the university has approved the committee’s recommendation for her expulsion, effective immediately. Precious is expected to vacate the university premises and return any university property she holds.
