The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Alausa, announced on Thursday that the issue surrounding the mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has been resolved.
According to a statement released by the Ministry, this decision follows discussions with the Director-General of NYSC. Dr. Alausa clarified that only full-time HND graduates are eligible for mobilization, meaning those who completed their HND programs on a part-time basis will not be included.
“This development is a significant win for full-time HND graduates, who were previously excluded from the NYSC program,” the statement reads.
“It reflects the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to fairness and inclusivity in Nigeria’s education system.”
To ensure a smooth mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education has been instructed to quickly gather the data of eligible HND graduates.
Polytechnics have been notified to upload the required graduate information onto a newly created HND admission portal.
Dr. Alausa emphasized that the mobilization is strictly for full-time HND graduates. The new portal will address past challenges in managing admission records, ensuring proper documentation for NYSC mobilization.
He urged all eligible graduates to act promptly in proceeding with their mobilization, reiterating the government’s dedication to equal opportunities for qualified Nigerian graduates through the NYSC scheme.
