The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Àkeem Owoade, has called on the Oyo State Government, under Governor Seyi Makinde, to extend CCTV surveillance from Fiditi to Oyo town in a bid to tackle growing security concerns in the region.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to Governor Makinde’s private residence in Ikolaba, Ibadan, over the weekend, Oba Owoade noted that while CCTV cameras had already been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi, the stretch from Fiditi to Oyo remained uncovered.

In a statement issued by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the monarch stated, “I want to appeal to the state government for the installation of CCTV cameras between Oyo and Fiditi. These cameras had been installed between Ibadan and Fiditi towns.”

He commended Governor Makinde’s leadership style, describing him as a principled and compassionate leader committed to justice, fairness, and the welfare of his people. “He is a passionate leader who believes in the emancipation of his people,” the monarch said.

Accompanied by his wife, Ayaba Abiwunmi, Oba Owoade also lauded the governor’s transparency and logical approach to governance. He encouraged citizens to support the Makinde-led administration, emphasizing that genuine leadership fosters unity and public trust.

In his response, Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction with the credible process that led to the monarch’s ascension and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to equitable leadership.

He also assured the Alaafin of plans to renovate and modernize the historic Alaafin’s Palace, underscoring his commitment to preserving Oyo State’s cultural heritage.
