Crystal Palace defender Daniel Muñoz has reportedly signed a new contract at Selhurst Park, turning down interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs which includes Chelsea, Manchester City, and Barcelona.

The Colombian international, who arrived in South London in January 2024, was originally under contract until 2027 with an option for a further year. However, his new deal reflects his rising influence within Oliver Glasner’s squad.

According to The Athletic, Muñoz’s extension includes improved terms, rewarding his standout displays this season. The 27-year-old has become a key figure for Palace, impressing with his energy, versatility, and attacking threat from the right flank. He has scored six goals so far this campaign, including a memorable winner against Brighton.

Despite strong interest from top-tier clubs, Muñoz has opted to continue his development under Glasner. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was reportedly eyeing him as a potential successor to Kyle Walker, who left for AC Milan on loan in January. Chelsea and Barcelona had also been monitoring his situation closely.

Muñoz’s decision to stay signals both his commitment to Palace and belief in the club’s upward trajectory under Glasner’s leadership.

He is expected to feature on Saturday when Palace travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City in the early Premier League kick-off.
