The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has confirmed that five people have died following the collapse of a three-storey building in the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos.

The incident occurred on Saturday at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, where the building, housing a restaurant, caved in, trapping workers and customers under the rubble.

Initial reports from LASEMA indicated one fatality and nine injured. However, a new update from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) revealed that the death toll has risen to five—two men and three women—while 15 others were rescued alive, including nine men and six women.

Rescue operations are still ongoing, and the site has been secured to ensure safety and aid the search efforts, LASEMA said.
