The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has announced that the board has set up a decoy website to track down candidates attempting to cheat during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Mock exam.

Oloyede made this revelation on Thursday while overseeing the exam at a Computer-Based Test (CBT) center in Bwari, Abuja.

He expressed concerns about candidates using fraudulent websites to cheat, revealing that JAMB had also launched its own imitation website to expose such activities.

“We want to remind students that the best way to succeed in the UTME is through proper studying. We are aware of fraudulent websites that lure candidates into paying for help, but it simply won’t work. To combat this, we’ve created our own decoy website. As of this morning, about 180 candidates have already made payments,” Oloyede stated.

He further emphasized that attempting to cheat is already a violation of the examination rules and warned those who had paid into the decoy website, saying, “We will take strong action against them. Their UTME and Direct Entry (DE) results will be canceled.”

Oloyede also cautioned candidates not to share their registration numbers with others or register through third parties, as some schools have been known to falsely claim high scores for their students. “It’s important to prevent practices that mislead the public. We are fully aware of these tactics and are doing everything we can to stop them,” he added.

The JAMB Registrar concluded by advising candidates to avoid fraudulent websites and individuals promising assistance for a fee, stating that some were charging as much as N30,000 for services that are completely ineffective. “It’s disheartening to see candidates falling for these scams, but we are here to ensure fairness,” he concluded.
