As preparations begin for the 2027 general and presidential elections, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has announced that the people of Akwa Ibom State have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, and himself as sole candidates for their respective offices.

Akpabio made the announcement on Friday during the second phase of his constituency empowerment program, which included the distribution of items and commissioning of projects in the Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

In a statement issued by his media office, Akpabio praised Governor Umo Eno for fostering unity and peace across the state. “Let me thank Governor Umo Eno because he is a man of peace and a man of God, both in word and deed,” he said. “His efforts have brought unity to Akwa Ibom, which is why we are enjoying peace today.”

He added that President Tinubu is pleased with the progress and stability in Akwa Ibom, which he attributed to the collaboration between the state and federal leadership.

The endorsement of Tinubu for president, Akpabio for Senate, and Eno for governor in 2027 was reportedly supported by a voice vote from attendees at the event.

As part of the empowerment initiative, Akpabio distributed minibuses, cars, tricycles, refrigerators, sewing machines, cargo tricycles, and cash grants totaling over N2 billion. Scholarships were also awarded to beneficiaries from across the three senatorial districts of the state.
