Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has denied harboring any presidential ambitions for the 2027 elections, stating that he will not run against President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Media Director, Michael Ohiare, Bello expressed shock over the resurfacing of a video from a 2022 rally, which some falsely claimed was part of a fresh campaign against President Tinubu.

“We wish to categorically state that Alhaji Yahaya Bello has no intention of contesting the presidency in 2027,” the statement read. “He remains firmly committed to the re-election of President Tinubu, who, despite global challenges, has performed commendably and deserves the support of all well-meaning Nigerians.”

Ohiare dismissed the video post as the handiwork of mischief makers, noting that the event clearly bore 2022 dates on its banners. He criticized the spread of the outdated footage as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

“It’s unfortunate that some individuals, driven by a persistent agenda to bring down Bello at all costs, continue to peddle falsehoods,” he said. “Reposting a two-year-old rally as if it were recent is not just deceptive but a clear act of mischief.”

He urged Nigerians to disregard the video and remain vigilant against such misleading content, which he described as a desperate move to incite unnecessary political tension.
