Inter Miami CF snapped a three-game losing streak across all competitions with a commanding 4–1 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night at Chase Stadium.

Argentine superstar Lionel Messi continued his incredible scoring form, netting in the 67th minute to record the 859th goal of his illustrious career. Renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano highlighted the milestone on X, writing: “Leo Messi scores for Inter Miami, now reaching 63 goals and assists in 53 games for the MLS side. 859 career goals so far.”

The scoring opened early, with winger Fafa Picault volleying in a goal in the 9th minute, his second in as many games. Defender Marcelo Weigandt doubled the lead in the 33rd minute after a lengthy VAR review, and striker Luis Suárez made it 3–0 just six minutes later, registering his third goal of the 2025 season.

The Red Bulls responded before halftime, as Mohammed Sofo headed in a corner in the 43rd minute, reducing the deficit. However, Messi sealed the win in the second half, volleying in a clinical finish to make it 4–1.

The win lifts Inter Miami to 21 points from 10 MLS matches, maintaining a strong start to the season with only one defeat.

Head coach Javier Mascherano praised the team’s response in his post-match comments: “It was a very physically demanding game, we needed it. It was important to get back to a good feeling. In the first half, we were clinical in front of goal, something we’ve been missing. In the second half, we tried to control possession more and avoid unnecessary risks.”
