Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the federal government is making steady progress in resolving long-standing challenges within the country’s electricity sector.

Speaking to journalists after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Agodi Prayer Ground in Ibadan on Friday, Adelabu emphasized that recent gains in electricity supply mark just the beginning of broader reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“We’ve started tackling the core issues that have hindered the power sector for decades,” he said.

“What you’re experiencing now is only the beginning. Over the next few years, Nigerians will see a significant transformation in power delivery.”

Adelabu expressed optimism that electricity would soon be more consistently available to homes, businesses, schools, and industries nationwide.

Citing President Tinubu’s remarks at the recent commissioning of a power plant in Port Harcourt, the minister reiterated the government’s strong commitment to improving energy access.

“The President’s vision is clear, he wants every Nigerian home and business to have reliable power. We are working tirelessly to achieve that. It’s been just over a year, and already there are signs of progress. By this time next year, we expect a much stronger and more stable power supply that will boost industries, energize small businesses, and ensure that electricity becomes a necessity, not a luxury,” Adelabu said.
