The Deeper Life Bible Church, renowned for its spiritual guidance and humanitarian efforts, has raised an alarm over the alleged demolition of several of its properties across Lagos State. In a heartfelt statement released on Thursday, the church decried the actions of state agencies, describing them as unjust and a threat to religious freedom.

The affected properties, located in Yaba, Olorunishola, and Lawanson, were reportedly targeted by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, and the Surulere Local Government. The demolitions have left congregants and community members distraught, questioning the motives behind the actions.

“We have been pillars of faith and community service for decades,” the statement from Deeper Life’s legal team read. “These demolitions are not just attacks on buildings but on the essence of our mission to provide hope and spiritual sanctuary”.

Church leaders have appealed directly to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urging a thorough investigation into the incidents. They stressed that their ministry has always adhered to the laws of the land and contributed to the peace and unity of Lagos State.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, assured the public that the government harbors no ill will toward the church. He noted that while infrastructure projects like rail lines sometimes necessitate demolitions, compensation is provided.

The Commissioner acknowledged that some demolitions were carried out by local authorities and described the situation as “unfortunate.” He emphasized ongoing efforts to resolve the matter amicably, maintaining that Lagos State remains committed to non-discrimination and fairness.

As the issue unfolds, Deeper Life Church remains steadfast in its mission, declaring, “We will not relent in our commitment to peace, justice, and truth. This is not just about property—it’s about protecting the sanctity of worship and the rights of our community.”
