A Nigerian father has shared a now-viral video on TikTok, alleging discrimination after he and his daughter who has special needs were denied entry into Emirate Mall in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The incident reportedly took place during the recent Eid holiday. Dressed in white traditional attire, the father visited the mall with his daughter, who wore a pink outfit, intending to shop.

According to his account, they were stopped at the supermarket entrance by security personnel and asked to leave.

In the video, which began trending on Tuesday, the father is seen holding his daughter while addressing the camera.

“Let’s go. This is a supermarket. She’s a child like every other child here. Those guys are not crying. Those children are not crying. They welcomed her. Now the staff are walking us out because of my baby. No problem. Let’s go, family,” he says emotionally.

In a follow-up post on his TikTok handle, #folorunshobodmas, he provided an update, stating that the issue was eventually resolved by senior mall staff.

He expressed appreciation for the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Emirate Mall, who intervened and allowed them access.

“This is Ilorin, Emirate Mall. I’m very disappointed. I brought my baby here to shop, and we were heartbroken when a security officer asked us to leave because of her. But thank God for the CSO, who stepped in and brought us back inside,” he said.
