The Kaduna State Government has strongly rejected former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s claims that the projects commissioned by President Bola Tinubu during his recent visit were initiated during El-Rufai’s tenure.

In a televised interview on Arise TV, El-Rufai asserted that the showcased projects were part of his legacy.

However, a statement released Tuesday by Ibraheem Musa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, dismissed the claims as “bare-faced lies” intended to mislead the public.

The statement clarified that the projects in question including three vocational training institutes, the 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, and 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses were either launched, completed, or fully executed under Governor Sani’s administration.

Specifically, the government highlighted that the three vocational institutes Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa Institute in Rigachikun, Col. Dangiwa Umar Institute in Soba, and Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Institute in Samaru Kataf were entirely conceptualized and built by Governor Sani as part of his strategy to enhance human capital. The centers are designed to train 36,000 youths annually.

“These are the best-equipped skills centres in Nigeria,” Musa quoted Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), as saying.

The 100 CNG-powered buses another of Governor Sani’s initiatives provide free rides for civil servants, retirees, and students for an initial six-month period, with reduced fares for other commuters, as a measure to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

On the 300-bed specialist hospital, the government explained that although the project originated during the Namadi Sambo era, it had languished at 53% completion for years without necessary equipment.

Governor Sani prioritized its completion, converting it into a fully functional modern healthcare facility.

“The structure had become a symbol of waste and mismanagement,” the statement noted, emphasizing that its revival marked a significant achievement under Governor Sani.

Titled “El-Rufai and His Litany of Lies,” the statement concluded “El-Rufai’s claims are not only false but a clear distortion of reality. While he is entitled to his views, facts remain unchangeable. Governor Sani has accomplished what others could not. No attempt at rewriting history will alter that truth.”
