The Kwara State Government has approved a 40 percent reduction in registration fees for students in public schools preparing to sit for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the state.
The approval, granted by Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (CON), is part of the administration’s broader initiative to enhance access to quality and affordable education for all.
Announcing the development on Monday in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, said the decision reflects the government’s sensitivity to the economic challenges faced by many families.
“This initiative is a clear demonstration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s continued commitment to making education more accessible and reducing the financial burden on parents and guardians,” Olohungbebe stated. “The 40 percent cut in BECE fees underscores the administration’s determination to ensure no child is left behind due to economic constraints.”
The commissioner reaffirmed that the government will continue to implement policies that support inclusive and equitable education across the state.
