Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, says his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stems from the President’s decisive economic policies and structural reforms.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday after a meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Soludo described the encounter as “pleasant” and commended the President’s high spirits and good health.
The governor, who is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that his long-standing personal relationship with Tinubu also underpins his support.
“President Tinubu is my friend of over 22 years, and you don’t deny your friend. I’m impressed with the bold steps he has taken, especially in the economy and structural reforms. We are taking the right steps, and we must stay the course,” Soludo said.
He also urged progressive political parties to unite in a broad coalition to promote democracy, economic growth, and social development in Nigeria.
On the security situation in Anambra, Soludo said his administration has adopted a comprehensive “kinetic and non-kinetic” approach. He explained that the recently enacted Homeland Security Law targets the root causes of insecurity, including the activities of native doctors who, he alleged, mislead youths into criminal acts.
“We are empowering our youths through skills training and job creation. About 5,000 have already benefited from our unique one-year programme, and another 8,700 will soon receive funding worth billions. We are creating thousands of youth millionaires in the first three years,” he disclosed.
The governor stressed that the state is combining security enforcement with social and economic empowerment, infrastructural upgrades, and improvements in education and healthcare. He warned that anyone who violates the law will face decisive action.
