Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has expressed disappointment over the non-payment of the team’s promised $100,000 reward and other entitlements.

In an interview on the forthcoming episode of With Chude, hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade said the players have not received any of the funds pledged after their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations victory, despite assurances from the authorities.

“We haven’t been paid. All the promises you’ve heard, nothing has come,” she said, adding that although they were told the money had been allocated, none of it had reached them.

Ajibade added that the players had been informed the money had already been allocated but insisted nothing had reached them.

“People are begging. We have not received it. When they pay it, you will see. Even our match bonuses and everything… everything is still a work in progress,” she lamented.

In July 2024, President Bola Tinubu announced the cash reward for each player following their record 10th WAFCON title, along with other bonuses.

Ajibade also revealed that she played for FC Robo Queens in the Nigeria Women’s Football League for 10 years without earning a salary, recalling her tough upbringing in Mushin, Lagos, where she sometimes washed toilets and bathrooms for money.

She moved from FC Robo Queens to Norway’s Avaldsnes IL at age 17 before joining Atlético Madrid Femenino in 2021.
