The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦6,972,000 to 10 students of the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU) in Abuja.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Fund on Tuesday. “We are pleased to announce the disbursement of ₦6,972,000.00 to 10 beneficiaries at African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, Nigeria,” the statement read, reaffirming NELFUND’s commitment to supporting higher education and empowering students across the country.
Confirming the receipt, the management of AAAU, in a statement signed by the Registrar, Mustapha Abdul, noted that the funds were received on Monday, July 21, 2025.
“We deeply appreciate this timely intervention, which will significantly ease the financial burdens of our beneficiaries and enhance their ability to focus on their academic pursuit,” the statement read.
NELFUND was established under the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on April 3, 2024. The Fund is designed to provide sustainable higher education and skill development opportunities for Nigerian youth.
On Monday, the Federal Government revealed that over ₦59 billion has been disbursed through NELFUND, benefiting more than 600,000 students nationwide.
Speaking at a briefing in Asaba, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, emphasized the government’s resolve that no qualified Nigerian should be denied access to tertiary education due to financial constraints.
