The Osun State Government has sealed EloCare Specialist Hospital in Osogbo over illegal disposal of refuse at Igbona Junction in Olorunda Local Government Area.
Insight Links gathered that the Osun Waste Management Agency (OWMA) took the action after its enforcement officers traced improperly disposed hospital waste found on the road median to the facility.
The agency reportedly discovered that the hospital had dumped its medical waste indiscriminately, in violation of the state’s environmental laws and public health regulations on medical waste management.
Insight links correspondent learnt that the enforcement officers proceeded to the hospital to ascertain its level of compliance with government directives on proper waste management and disposal.
The agency discovered that the management of the hospital had turned deaf ears to several government directives on proper waste disposal and was operating without compliance to waste management policy.
The agency consequently sealed the facility as part of its enforcement action against improper waste disposal.
