The Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, has outlawed the activities of “Omo Onile” land grabbers who harass and extort developers across the Ijesa region.

The monarch made the announcement at Obokungbusi Hall, Ilesa, during the official launch of the Ijesa Development Fund, a new initiative designed to boost infrastructural and social growth in the area.

Expressing deep concern over the rising cases of land extortion, Oba Haastrup condemned the unlawful acts of those who exploit developers, warning that such practices hinder progress and discourage investors.

He directed all indigenes of Ijesaland to arrest anyone involved in land grabbing and hand them over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.

“The time has come to end this disgraceful act,” the Owa declared. “Anyone posing as Omo Onile to extort money or disrupt genuine development projects must be stopped and made to face the law.”

The revered monarch reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring peace and order in Ijesaland, stressing that no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of intimidation or lawlessness.

He urged all traditional rulers, chiefs, and community leaders in the region to unite in restoring Ijesaland’s lost glory and creating a peaceful environment conducive to investment and growth.

“Our priority is the progress of Ijesaland,” he added. “Let us work together to maintain law, unity, and a safe environment where development can flourish.”
