The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has begun early preparations for the 2027 general elections, with key party leaders closing ranks and launching a statewide mobilisation tour across the state’s 14 federal constituencies.

The mobilisation exercise, organised in partnership with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, officially commenced on Monday at the Oba Adeyemi Stadium in Oyo town. Party leaders at the event stressed the need to strengthen grassroots structures and present a united front ahead of the next presidential election.

The outing followed a series of house-to-house engagements reportedly led by the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin. The visits were aimed at reconciling aggrieved party members and bridging internal divisions within the Oyo APC.

Speaking at the event, former Oyo State First Lady and ambassador-designate, Dr Florence Ajimobi, described the mobilisation as a timely move to heal rifts within the party. She called on stakeholders to embrace peace and unity, declaring that there should be “no more war” within the APC in the state.

Senator Folarin, who also serves as Oyo State Ambassador for the Renewed Hope initiative, said the tour was designed to consolidate the party’s structures and galvanise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

He noted that Oyo State delivered one of the APC’s strongest presidential performances in the 2023 elections, adding that the party intends to improve on that result.

“President Tinubu polled 449,884 votes in Oyo State in the last election,” Folarin said. “Our goal for 2027 is to increase that number by at least 35 per cent through sustained grassroots mobilisation across all 33 local government areas.”

According to him, the party’s 2027 strategy centres on early mobilisation, continuous stakeholder engagement and internal reconciliation, which he described as the APC’s greatest strength.
“Personal ambitions must be subordinated to our collective interest. Our priority is to rebuild trust within the party and secure a landslide victory for President Tinubu in 2027,” he added.

Also speaking, Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu urged party members to remain disciplined and united, stressing that cooperation among APC stakeholders would be critical to the party’s success in future elections.
Oyo APC Chairman, Olayide Abass, echoed similar sentiments, saying the mobilisation tour would further strengthen the party’s internal structures and position it for victory at both state and national levels in 2027.

The event attracted several prominent party figures, including Senators Yunus Akintunde, Sharafadeen Alli, Femi Lanlehin and Ayo Adeseun. Former deputy governors Chief Iyiola Oladokun and Chief Moses Alake were also in attendance.

Others present were former Speakers Asimiyu Alarape and Akeem Adeyemi, Prof Adeolu Akande, Dr Abisoye Fagade, as well as party elders and grassroots mobilisation leaders.

The APC said the statewide tour would continue across the remaining federal constituencies in the coming weeks.
