Operatives of the Federal Highway Patrol have arrested a man after discovering suspected human remains hidden inside luggage in a commercial vehicle on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State.

The shocking discovery was made during a routine stop-and-search operation near Guru Maharaji Village. Officers found a red cloth containing bones and other items believed to be parts of a human body concealed among passengers’ belongings.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, said the vehicle’s driver, identified as Kazeem Ayegbo, was travelling from Lagos to Osogbo when he was intercepted and arrested.

According to Osifeso, investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the remains and their intended use. He added that the probe has been extended beyond Oyo State to identify and apprehend other individuals who may be linked to the incident. The suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.

The police assured residents that the case is being handled with professionalism and diligence, stressing their commitment to public safety and justice.
Meanwhile, the police also confirmed a separate violent incident at a construction site in the Iyana-Ajia area of Ibadan. Preliminary investigations revealed that a disagreement between two casual workers escalated into a deadly confrontation.

Osifeso disclosed that a 22-year-old man, Lawal Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed his colleague, 18-year-old Raimi Ige, with a broken bottle during the altercation. The victim later died while being rushed to the hospital. The suspect has since been arrested, and the deceased’s body was deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Due to the severity of the case, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the transfer of the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section for further investigation before prosecution.

The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by providing useful information. Emergency incidents can be reported through the Oyo State toll-free emergency line 615 or the police control room numbers: 08081768614 and 07055495413.
