Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents Delta North Senatorial District, has announced a free JAMB registration programme for 1,500 students from the district following the start of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration nationwide.

The initiative, according to the senator, is aimed at ensuring that no qualified student is denied the opportunity to pursue higher education because of financial challenges.

Nwoko made the announcement on Wednesday through a statement shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, stressing that education remains a key driver of sustainable development.

“Education is the foundation upon which lasting development is built. No qualified student should be denied access to higher education due to financial constraints,” he said.

The free JAMB registration will cover students from Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Ukwuani Local Government Areas of Delta State.

Describing the programme as part of his broader commitment to human capital development, the senator said the scheme is targeted at supporting young people across the district in their academic pursuits.

“I am pleased to announce the commencement of a free JAMB UTME registration drive for 1,500 students from the Delta North Senatorial District for the 2026 academic year,” Nwoko stated.

He explained that applicants must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, and must generate a JAMB profile code using their National Identification Number (NIN). Applicants are required to provide their full name, JAMB profile code and council ward for proper verification.

The deadline for the application is Sunday, February 15, 2026, while interested students are expected to complete their registration through the designated portal.

Reaffirming his dedication to youth empowerment, Nwoko said he remains committed to promoting policies and programmes that expand access to education and strengthen the social and economic future of Delta North.

The announcement comes as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially opened registration for the 2026 UTME. Registration began on January 26 and will close on February 28, 2026, while e-PIN vending started on January 19 and ends on February 26.

For Direct Entry candidates, JAMB said registration will commence on March 2 and end on April 25, 2026, with applications processed only at JAMB zonal and state offices.

JAMB also announced the cost of its e-PINs for the 2026 exercise: ₦5,700 for Direct Entry, ₦7,200 for UTME without mock examination, and ₦8,700 for UTME with mock. The fees cover application charges, reading texts, CBT registration, service fees and, where applicable, mock examination costs.
