The family of 42-year-old Kehinde Albert has appealed to the public for help in locating him after he went missing on February 27. Kehinde disappeared from the General Hospital, Gbagada, where he had been receiving medical care.

Speaking on Tuesday, Kehinde’s elder brother, Olatunde, said the man had struggled with alcoholism for years and was preparing to join a rehabilitation programme that required preliminary medical tests.

“On Thursday, February 26, I took him to the hospital with his twin brother for tests in preparation for a rehabilitation programme for his alcoholism. He had not been feeling well generally,” Olatunde said. “About two years ago, we spent a lot of money treating him in a private hospital, but his condition worsened after our mother died last year. She used to take care of him, but after her death, he returned to drinking.”

According to Olatunde, Kehinde developed seizures and convulsions at the hospital and was admitted for treatment. “He improved later that Thursday. On Friday, I went to get some prescribed drugs, leaving him in the care of his twin brother. Later that night, I was surprised to see his twin brother on the street. When I asked why Kehinde had been left behind, he said hospital staff had chased them away.”

However, hospital staff gave a different account. Dr. Olusegun Babafemi, Medical Director of the facility, said Kehinde and his twin had attempted to leave several times and became agitated. “The patient nearly collapsed at the laboratory, was resuscitated in the emergency unit, and later wanted to leave with his brother. Security intervened, but they refused to sign the discharge form initially. Eventually, Kehinde completed the process and was discharged,” Babafemi explained.

The hospital has circulated Kehinde’s photograph internally and advised the family to check locations he frequently visits. “Once discharged, the hospital is no longer responsible for him unless he is admitted,” Babafemi said.

The family continues to appeal for any information that could help bring Kehinde home safely.
