Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Adesola Adedayo, has endorsed the continuity agenda of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, describing it as the most reliable pathway for sustained development in the state.
Adedayo made this known on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti while hosting youth groups in his office, where he commended the governor’s leadership style and developmental strides.
According to him, extending the current administration’s tenure to 2030 would help consolidate achievements in key sectors, including infrastructure, security, and youth empowerment.
“Continuity of the present government till 2030 will ensure economic stability, infrastructure facelift, security, and youth development that are gradually savouring a meteoric upswing in the policies of government.”
The commissioner praised Oyebanji for redefining governance in the state through peace-building efforts, strategic collaborations, and prudent management of resources. He noted that the administration had fostered unity across political divides while raising development standards.
Adedayo, however, criticised opposition figures seeking to unseat the governor, describing them as inexperienced and lacking the required governance capacity.
“Ekiti State can’t afford to fall back into a trial-and-error kind of leadership by ushering a neophyte to govern the state when the state already has a leader who is consolidating on the foundation laid by his predecessors.”
He further stressed that the current administration had set a clear direction for growth, adding that opposition candidates had yet to present better alternatives.
“Just take a look at the opposition candidates, none of them has professed having any master plan that is better than what Governor Biodun Oyebanji is offering.
“The antecedents of those angling to wrest power from the governor didn’t speak volumes. They only manifest that all of them are neophytes in governance, unlike the governor, who had been appointed as Special Assistant, Chief of Staff, two-time commissioner, and Secretary to the State Government before assuming this present office.
“As we speak today, what the people need is a good manifestation of governance deeply rooted in performance and experience, not a trial-and-error kind of leadership that will reverse the development gear back to the days of locusts.”
Highlighting key achievements of the administration, Adedayo pointed to projects such as the state’s airport, the Ado Ekiti flyover, improved road networks, and agricultural initiatives that have generated employment for thousands of youths.
“Oyebanji has blazed the trail and remains an enigma through airport project that has connected Ekiti to the world, the ultra modern Ado Ekiti flyover, the strategically located intra and inter city roads, rural road accessibility, commercial agriculture that has employed over 4,500 youths, employment of over 20,000 to formal and informal sectors and training of over 2,000 of youths in digital education, among others.”
He also noted a significant increase in the state’s internally generated revenue, attributing it to reforms and improved financial management.
“When Governor Oyebanji came into office, the internally generated revenue was undulating between N700m and N800m monthly, but today, Ekiti rakes in between N2.5bn and N3bn monthly. Besides this masterpiece achievement, Ekiti now has a digitalized Revenue House that has blocked all loopholes in tax collection.”
Adedayo urged residents to support the governor’s re-election bid, insisting that continuity would sustain development and prevent setbacks.
He maintained that the continuity agenda was primarily in the interest of the state, given the progress recorded under the current administration.
