The Osun State Signage, Hoarding and Advertisement Agency, popularly known as O’Signage has kicked against illegal and indiscriminate erection of billboards across the state.

The Agency warned that only practitioners who are duly registered with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) are allowed to erect and operate billboards in the state.

The warning was contained in a statement by the Consultant to the Osun State government on O’Signage, Mr Muyiwa Olufajo, arpa, which was made available to InsightMedia on Wednesday night.

Olufajo lamented on several individuals are mounting billboards across the state without approval and payment of mandatory dues to the purse of the government, describing the act as illegal.

“The O’Signage is not happy with indiscriminate erection of billboards by individuals who have not license to operate. Let it be stated clearly that only practitioners who are duly registered by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria and are licensed by Osun State Government are allowed by law, to erect billboards in Osun State.

“The agency will soon start to remove any illegally mounted billboards across the state as this act is not only illegal but it’s also depriving the state of dues that should be accrued to it.

“We urge individuals who want to mount any advert or campaign on billboards to contact registered practitioners in the state,” the O’Signage said.
