The campaign organisation of Ademola Adeleke has called on key figures in the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Gboyega Oyetola and Bola Oyebamiji, to accept the outcome of the forthcoming August 15 governorship election and respect the will of the people.
According to a statement released on Saturday in Osogbo, the campaign Council said it had received reports of alleged threats by some APC leaders to instigate unrest if the incumbent governor emerges victorious in the poll.
According to the organisation a purported leaked conversation among APC stakeholders suggested internal acknowledgement that Ademola Adeleke enjoys significant grassroots support and is likely to secure victory by a wide margin.
The campaign criticised what it described as “undemocratic tendencies” among some opposition figures, warning against any attempt to undermine the electoral process or incite post-election violence.
It urged Gboyega Oyetola, Bola Oyebamiji and the APC Campaign Council to allow a free, fair, and credible election, advising them to concede defeat if the electorate so decides.
The statement also dismissed allegations of possible manipulation of electoral officials, insisting that mechanisms are in place to ensure transparency and integrity in the voting process.
Furthermore, the campaign warned that any attempt to disrupt peace after the election would be resisted by the people, noting that residents of Osun State are determined to not only participate in the election but also safeguard their votes.
It concluded with a call on citizens to remain vigilant and committed to democratic values by actively participating in the electoral process and protecting their rights at all levels.
