Real Madrid defender David Alaba is expected to leave Real Madrid as a free agent when his current contract expires, with reports indicating that the player is unlikely to renew his deal.
Speculation over Alaba’s future has been ongoing since November, and recent updates suggest the Austrian international is nearing the end of his time at the Spanish giants.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday that several clubs have already shown interest in signing the experienced defender ahead of the next transfer window.
“David Alaba is expected to leave Real Madrid as a free agent, as reported since November. Several clubs have already approached the Austrian defender,” Romano noted.
Alaba’s availability on a free transfer is expected to make him one of the most sought-after players in the market.
Since joining Madrid in 2021, the versatile defender has played a key role in the team, bringing experience, leadership, and tactical flexibility. He has featured in multiple positions, including centre-back, left-back, and midfield.
Before his move to Spain, Alaba built a highly successful career with Bayern Munich, where he won numerous domestic titles and UEFA Champions League honours.
Although neither the player nor the club has officially confirmed his departure, expectations remain high that Alaba will part ways with Madrid at the end of his contract.
The Austrian star, also a long-serving captain of his national team, is widely regarded for his composure, passing ability, and leadership on the pitch.
