President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has carried out a minor cabinet reshuffle, relieving Wale Edun of his duties as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
In his place, the President appointed Taiwo Oyedele, who previously served as Minister of State for Finance, to take over the role.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by Yomi Odunuga, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. According to the statement, the transition process is expected to be completed by Thursday, April 23, 2026.
As part of the reshuffle, the President also removed Ahmed Musa Dangiwa as Minister of Housing and Urban Development, naming Muttaqha Rabe Darma as his replacement.
The statement explained that the changes were part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve coordination within the cabinet.
According to George Akume, the reshuffle is aimed at enhancing synergy among cabinet members and ensuring more effective delivery of economic policies in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Akume noted that the President exercised his constitutional powers under relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) to effect the changes.
He added that all handover processes must be concluded before the close of work on Thursday.
The President also expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavours, while assuring that efforts to strengthen the cabinet would remain ongoing.
