President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity, declaring that Nigeria will overcome banditry and terrorism.

The President made the pledge on Saturday while commissioning the Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State, alongside several other key infrastructure projects.

Speaking at the event hosted by Governor Dapo Abiodun, Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government would continue to prioritise security and invest in human development.

“We will defeat banditry and terrorism. I assure you, we will keep investing in our people,” the President said.

He pointed to the presence of security vehicles at the ceremony as a reflection of ongoing efforts to strengthen safety across the country.

According to him, increased investment in security assets is part of a broader strategy to protect lives and property.

Tinubu also took time to commend Nigerian youths, describing them as hardworking, innovative, and central to the country’s future.

“Our youth are committed and brilliant. Nigeria is determined to rise again and is already on the path to greatness,” he added.

The commissioning event, originally scheduled earlier in the week, was postponed after the President travelled to Jos to sympathise with victims of a recent attack in the area.

Gunmen had earlier struck the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North, leaving several people dead and many others injured.

At the Iperu ceremony, Tinubu described the newly commissioned airport as a major milestone for the state, highlighting its independent power supply driven by investments in gas and energy.

He expressed satisfaction with the range of projects unveiled, particularly in the areas of transportation, security, and agriculture.

The President also praised the introduction of electric bikes, describing them as a forward-thinking solution to modern transportation challenges.

“The deployment of 1,000 electric bikes shows a shift towards cleaner, technology-driven mobility that will improve everyday life,” he said.

Tinubu concluded by reiterating his administration’s resolve to deliver development and ensure a safer, more prosperous Nigeria.
